Level 3 BTEC National Extended Diploma in Creative Digital Media Production (Digital Games)

Interested in the dynamic and creative world of animation and the production of video games? On our Digital Games course you’ll learn about 2D and 3D animation and how to produce digital games. Using top of the range software, you’ll be taught all the skills and techniques you need. And to help you create far-off worlds and wonderful animated characters, you’ll also be taught how to use 3DS Max, Animate, After Effects, Premiere, Photoshop and Illustrator.

Entry Requirements

Five GCSEs at grade 4/5 or above, including a minimum of a 4/5 grade in GCSE English or a Level 2 BTEC in Creative Media or IT with a Merit grade profile. At interview and you will need to bring records of formal study i.e.: A report, media based project work and evidence of a written piece of work. Students without grade 4/5 in GCSE maths will be required to study this qualification during the programme.

Assessment/Exam information

The course is assessed by a variety of methods including: projects, assignments, presentations and course work; Some of these are internally assessed whilst others will be externally assessed via exams or external tasks. All assessment is verified by an external examiner to maintain national quality and standards.

All work is graded using a scale of Pass, Merit and Distinction. The course is unit based and presents continuous assessment opportunities, as opposed to a final examination; therefore, your progress can be accurately tracked and assessed throughout the entire program, offering you the opportunity to improve your grades.

Other information

During the course students develop a range of transferable skills, which play an essential role in developing personal effectiveness for adult and working life and in the application of specific vocational skills.

You could progress onto one of our BA programmes in Graphics or Illustration. Alternatively HE courses offered by Universities.

Any extra costs

All students will be charged a trips and exhibition fee, which includes an Art Kit. The total cost of this is £65. Other costs may be incurred in the production of project work.
