Level 2 AAT Foundation Certificate in Accounting

This course is ideal for those working or intending to work as accounting professionals / support staff in accounts, administration or finance functions.
Candidates study units including Bookkeeping, Data Processing, Cost Accounting and Administration in a finance environment with Ethics.
The Foundation Certificate is part of a three-stage, competency based Education and Training Scheme offered by The Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT), the largest dedicated professional body for qualified accounting technicians.
The AAT Foundation Certificate in Accounting requires a Total Qualification time of 340 hours and attracts 34 credits.
The course is divided into five units:
1. Bookkeeping Transactions – double entry to trial balance inc prompt payment discount.
2. Bookkeeping Controls – Cashbook, Petty Cash, Journals and Control Accounts inc discrepancies with subsidiary ledgers.
3. Working Effectively in Finance.
4. Elements of Costing – Principles and providing Cost and Revenue information.
5. Using Accounting Software ( Sage).

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements at this level. Candidates who are employer sponsored – or work in an Accounts Department / Finance sector may directly enrol onto the course without tutor interview. Just complete the enrolment form and take it to Student Services.
Applicants who are not in related employment or are unemployed - must contact the Course Tutor for enrolment form signature and a brief interview prior to joining.  
Please note that all candidates should have a basic working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets and basic IT file management techniques. These areas will be assessed on the course – but not taught.

This course is only available for 19+ students.

Students are assessed through a combination of Computer based exams and a synoptic assessment (all marked by the AAT )
