Level 3 Apprenticeship in Civil Engineering

This course is suitable for people employed in various businesses within the engineering sector. The Civil Engineering and Construction Technical frameworks at Level 3 are designed to provide the skills, knowledge and competence requirements to operate at technician level within various construction engineering sub-sectors. These might include civil engineering, civil engineering technical support or surveying.

The course is modular and the most appropriate units will be selected with the support and guidance of the assessor to ensure they are aligned with the type of work undertaken.

Entry Requirements

The Apprenticeship is open to those aged 16+ in suitable employment who hold GCSEs, (or equivalent) at grade C in English and maths.
An entry assessment will be undertaken prior to course entry.

Assessment/Exam information

The NVQ is gained:
• By observation of your practical skills in the workplace
• By inspection of material that you have produced or collected (your portfolio of evidence).

The Technical Certificate is gained:
• By creating a portfolio and completing online assessments
• By attending college on day release.

What can I do next?

On completion of the Advanced Apprenticeship, opportunities exist to progress to a Higher Apprenticeship (Level 4 or Foundation Degree level). It will also enhance future job opportunities as the qualifications gained are formally recognised by those in the industry.

The content of the programme is agreed with employers so that all Apprentices meet a national standard, as well as being flexible enough for an employer to tailor elements to their particular needs.
