Level 2 Diploma for the Early Years Practitioner

If you have ambitions of a career working with young children, then this course may be ideal for you. It prepares learners to work with children between birth and five years with knowledge of children up to seven years.
You will be providing assignments to demonstrate your knowledge and understanding; presentations; role play and you will be assessed in the workplace. You must attend a work placement where observations and activities take place for a minimum of 250 hours. This course will also reflect on your professional practice and identify how you can develop and improve using actioning planning and setting targets. You will also study: Understanding how to plan to meet the needs of the developing child, use legislation relating to equality, diversity and inclusive practice, understand how to work in partnership, and supporting children's development.

Entry Requirements

Four GCSEs at grade 3 or above, including English and Maths.
An interest and motivated to study this course and to work with children.
You will be required to complete a DBS which is clear to enable you to start your work experience within the first 6 weeks of college.

Assessment is in the form of written assignments, presentations, professional discussions, direct observations and a portfolio of evidence

Qualification description

NCFE Cache Level 2 Certificate in an Introduction to Early Years Education and Care. You will be required to achieve 33 credits , a mininum of 250 work placement hours and assessment will be through a range of methods. Duration of course is 1 year and grade outcome is Pass.
