Level 4 Apprenticeship Professional Accounting Technician

This course is aimed at those working as Accounting Technicians/support staff in accountancy and finance functions. This programme is the final part of a three stage, competence based education and training scheme offered by The Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT), the largest dedicated professional body for qualified accounting technicians.

The three stages consist of units of competence and are accredited by the new Qualifications & Credit Framework (QCF). The Level 4 Diploma attracts 41-44 credits.

This qualification comprises four mandatory units and two specialist units. The mandatory units are: • Management Accounting: Budgeting • Management Accounting: Decision and Control • Financial Statements of Limited Companies • Accounting Systems and Controls. The specialist units are: • Personal Tax • Business Tax.

Entry Requirements

The Apprenticeship is open to those aged 16+ in suitable employment who have completed the Intermediate Stage Level
3 Diploma and have GCSEs, (or equivalent ) at grade C in English and Maths. (Please note that funding restrictions may apply to apprentices aged 19+).

Apprenticeships are currently not available to those who have a degree, HNC, HND or equivalent Level 4 qualifications.

Applicants are required to sit a mock
skills test prior to acceptance on the
Higher Apprenticeship.

Assessment/Exam information

Assessment is by four computer based examinations and two e-delivered project/case studies.

Key Skills require the student to produce a portfolio of evidence and sit multiple-choice tests (certain academic qualifications may provide exemptions).

This course is based at North Star.
During the course you will receive expert tuition from highly trained staff.
A qualified Assessor will be allocated to the learner who will provide an induction and plan with him/her assessments in their work place.

A Training Co-ordinator will support you throughout your training, through regular work based review meetings.

What can I do next?

Successful candidates may apply to be a full member of the AAT and use the designated letters MAAT. They are also invited to join the College’s annual Graduation Ceremony.
