Swindon College School of Art Photography Competition Winners Announced

17 June 2019

Students from schools all over Wiltshire sought out their best representation of “Reflections” in Swindon College’s first Young Photographer Competition!  The competition was open to all 14-18 year olds and it was very exciting for Swindon College’s School of Art to see what the next generation of gifted photographers can do!  The College was amazed with the high standard of submissions that really challenged the brief conceptually and are thrilled to showcase their work to the public.
The winning images will be used to produce a calendar to raise money for TWIGS (Therapeutic Work in Gardening in Swindon).
The judges were Alan Holland of TWIGS, Joanne Gennard, Curriculum Manager for the School of Art and John Holdship, Lecturer.  They had a really tough job of deciding the winners, but after a lot of deliberation selected 12 photographs which will be used in the calendar.  Winners will receive a prize of vouchers and a day’s photography workshop at the College.
Joanne Gennard said: “The judges were blown away by the quality of work that we looked at this year, and it shows that the future of photography is in good hands!  It was incredibly difficult to narrow the final selection down to twelve, and even more difficult to pick an overall winner.  However, the decision for the top three was unanimous, but we would like to thank all of the contestants for their amazing work and to encourage them to carry on taking photographs.”
The winners are:
1st Place - Kamille Buozyte

2nd Place - Alicia Underwood

3rd Place - Matthew Stone
