Your courses:

Swindon College School of Art Summer School 2019

Swindon College School of Art is delighted to be able to offer a range of workshop taster sessions in a variety of subjects over 2 days.  Each of these taster sessions are designed to give you an experience of what you would be doing on a course with us and to see our facilities.  You can do more than one session if you wish but please choose different subjects, as the sessions are repeats.

Clay is a very expressive material that can be moulded and manipulated to make creative and unique objects.  You will have the opportunity to create ceramic objects exploring form and texture, resulting in functional, sculptural and decorative pieces.

Creative Digital Media

Animation is a vibrant and rapidly developing area of the creative industry with lots of practical applications in the Film, Television and Game industries.  You can experience hands-on animation techniques that use both traditional skills and digital technology.

Graphic Design

Graphic Design is visual storytelling.  It represents the opportunity to creatively communicate to large audiences; to inspire, inform and captivate.  This session will celebrate the abundant creative potential of typography.

Life Drawing

Life Drawing is a discipline that is an excellent way of extending your observational drawing skills.  Working from the model, you will be introduced to experimental and traditional approaches to extend your ways of looking.  The workshop is perfect for portfolio building.

Media Make-up

Media make-up artists work in film, theatre, fashion and television.  Join us for an introduction to the key skills of editorial make-up.  Taught by industry professionals you will have the opportunity to experiment with professional make-up and apply your designs.

Printmaking incorporates traditional techniques that can be applied across photography, illustration, textiles, art and graphic design, adding texture and depth through the process.  This workshop will explore the exciting potential of the printmaking process.

Darkroom, black and white photographic printing.  This course will take you from the basic fundamentals of darkroom printing to more advanced techniques in hand-tinting and toning in our professionally equipped air-conditioned darkroom.  This course only covers the printing of images from already processed film, however if you do not have access to black and white negatives we can provide them.
