Academic Dress

Academic Dress consists of a black robe, worn over formal attire, and a hood displaying the colours of your qualification. You should also wear a mortarboard, traditional head wear for graduation.

You will need to order your academic dress through Ede & Ravenscroft Ltd by Friday 5th October 2018, to ensure delivery to the Ceremony.

You can either hire or purchase your Academic Dress here

When ordering, you will see confirmation of the award you are graduating with, and will need to provide your height, and your head circumference measured about an inch above your eyebrows to complete your booking. You will also need a method of payment.

A small number of gowns will be available on the day, but fit and colour is not guaranteed. These will be available on a first come first served basis, and you will be charged a premium on the day.

Staff from Ede & Ravenscroft will assist you in gowning on the day, and will collect hired Academic Dress at the end of the day. Please look out for the collection table and the deadline to return these, or you may incur further charges.

Formal Attire

As this is a high profile formal event, appropriate formal attire is strongly advised.

We recommend that you wear a dark suit or jacket and trousers, with a suitable shirt and tie and smart shoes.

We recommend a suitable dress or skirt/trousers with a blouse and smart shoes. You might find that a front-buttoned blouse or dress is helpful to secure your hood, or you could use a brooch or pin.

Please do not wear your hair up as this will prevent the mortarboard from sitting correctly. You may want to bring some hair grips to keep your cap securely in place.
