Kaci Luker

Level 3 | Accountancy Apprenticeship

Kaci Luker, 17, decided to swap studying for her A-Levels to pursue a career in Accountancy through an Apprenticeship at Swindon College.

Kaci was at Sixth Form doing A-Levels in Maths and Biology, but after a year she realised that this wasn’t the direction that she wanted to take.

Now, she is one step closer to achieving her career goals and is currently training to be an Accountant with OrangeStripe OutSourcing, through the Level 3 Assistant Accountant Apprenticeship at the College.

This opportunity has really helped Kaci to flourish. One of her finest achievements so far happened to be when she was attending a networking event on behalf of the company. She had only been employed by them for 4 weeks but this didn’t faze her and she won the ‘best 60 second speech’.

In her role as an Accounts Trainee she gets to undertake a variety of tasks which includes Bookkeeping, invoicing and bank reconciliations. She is also now looking at becoming more involved in the sales aspect of the business.

Kaci plans to progress on to the Level 4 AAT Professional Diploma upon completion of her Apprenticeship, her aspirations for the future is to eventually run her own business.

“I love my Apprenticeship. There are so many different routes available for people now and I would highly recommend doing an Apprentice to everyone.

“I have a really good employer, they make things easier and are really supportive. I have learnt so much not just in my area of study but also life skills.”
