Tia Stepp

Level 2 | Beauty

“I couldn’t see a future for myself but now I do thanks to the college.”

Tia Step, 17, was home schooled after being taken out of primary school where she was severely bullied, this resulted in Tia having obtained no GCSE’s.

With no plan set out for what she would do next, Tia took a chance and visited Swindon College where she received help to find what course would be best for her – that’s when she took her first steps of her future.

Due to Tia having no grades she started Level 1 Beauty, the course helped her tremendously as she gained qualifications and a new self-confidence. With the supportof Foundation Learning there for her throughout.

Now Tia has started Beauty Level 2 and has set clear goals to further her study to focus on how her pathway will shape her career. Once completing her course sheplans to enrol on Level 3 Beauty, then Level 4 Beauty, and hopes to do a Nursing Degree to provide her with the skills to do more complicated beauty treatments.

“I went through a bad stage in my life, I struggled with an eating disorder for two years and fell into a depression that left me hidden away in my bedroom."

“I battled my way through it and college has helped lift me out of this."

“I’ve felt so welcomed here and the Beauty course has really helped me flourish because you have to be professional, learn how to talk to clients and get to showyour personality.”
