Kaylee Allan

Level 3 | NVQ in Plumbing and Heating

Kaylee Allan, 20, wanted to apply for a trade job when she was 16 but decided not to because of the stigma surrounding women in her type of industry.
Fast forward four years later and Kaylee is now doing an Apprenticeship to become a Plumbing and Heating Technician at Swindon College.

She was in the process of applying to join the Police Force after obtaining her Level 3 Public and Emergency Services extended Diploma, but this was halted when she realised that she still had the desire to become a Plumber.
Now Kaylee is an Apprentice for one of the largest housing associations in the country – Sovereign Housing Association.

“I was at a point where I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do anymore, then the opportunity to do an Apprenticeship in Plumbing at the College came up and I had a feeling that it was something I had to go for.

“I’ve came to the realisation that you need to ignore stereotypes and focus on yourself, do what truly makes you happy.

“Everything has clicked into place with the Apprenticeship, I never could have imagined working for such a prestigious company – it’s been the best couple of years.”
