Samual Bobs

Level 3 | NVQ in Plumbing and Heating

Samuel Bobs, 21, plans to follow in his Grandad’s footsteps of having a successful career in the Plumbing industry.

Samuel had only worked in temporary jobs previously, but when his Grandad died he realised that he wanted more for his career, so he decided that the best solution for him was to do an Apprenticeship at Swindon College.

He is currently in his first year of the Level 3 NVQ in Plumbing and Heating. He has already completed Level 2 of his qualification and works as an Apprentice at TWS Plumbing and Heating.

A big part of his success has been his dedication to want to succeed, overcoming any barriers that might pose as obstacles and working as hard as he can to keep improving himself. He travels 15 miles to go to his workplace and attended night classes to make sure he gained his Maths GCSE.

“I was deciding what I wanted to do as a career and how I wanted my life to plan out. I had seen how successful my grandad had been as a plumber and he’s my inspiration so I decided that this was also the path I wanted to follow.

“Learning a skill that I can have for the rest of my life that I can take anywhere I go was a key point in making this decision. I have always had a hands on attitude and I love building and fixing things.

“The College have been magnificent to me, the course has been great and the teachers have been amazing.”
