1. What type of Construction Trade courses do you offer?
There’s a comprehensive range of vocational Diplomas available to study at New College Swindon, covering trades such as Brickwork, Carpentry (Site & Bench) and Plumbing - each designed to prepare you for a career in the Construction Trade.

2. What different course levels are available to study?
The Diploma courses we offer are all Level 2.  Fast Track courses are also available which last for one year. (Dependent on prior knowledge and the level of your grades.)

3. What grades and qualifications do I need to enrol?
You will need four GCSEs at grade 3 or above, including English and Maths. If you do not achieve the correct level of English and Maths you will be required to achieve this as part of your course.  We also offer Fast Track qualifications which last for one year if you have prior knowledge and higher grades are achieved.

4. How long does the course take to complete?
These courses are full time study and take two years to complete. The Fast Track option takes one year (Dependent on prior knowledge and the level of your grades).

5. What kind of work will I be doing?
You’ll be learning all the fundamental trade skills and training, both theory and practical, that will enable you to work towards nationally recognised qualifications. The learning environment you’re in is closely designed to match that in the real world.

6. What about work placements?
We have great contacts with local businesses meaning there’s plenty of opportunity for work placements to give you real world experience in the Construction sector.

7. What kind of careers will be open to me once qualified? 
Once qualified, there’s a whole host of trade-related jobs you can consider, such as Site Supervisor, Furniture Maker, Bench Joiner, Craft Carpenter or Heating Installation Engineer to name a few.
